I love cake! From baking, to decorating, and especially eating, I love the whole process. Baking is such a science, and I love finding a good recipe and tinkering with it to make delicious variations like red velvet, strawberry and butter pecan. It's always so exciting to try a new recipe, and twice as delightful when it turns out well. I love chocolate, so it's no hardship to bake and sample differences between say devil's food cake, fudge cake, and truffle cake!

All of my cakes are made from scratch. I'm not anti-mix, as it does make a wonderful crumb topping for fruit cobblers, but scratch baking seems like a lost art these days. When done correctly, the results are far superior to anything you will find at a grocery store.

Decorating cakes evolved from my love of baking. I enjoy the creative process, but most of my designs are inspired by the work of others. It's usually satisfying for me to challenge myself to rise to the level of some of the extraordinarily talented cake artists out there. Through them, I've learned dozens of new techniques and have developed a long list of techniques to experiment with.
